

TTI hosted a number of K-12 STEM outreach activities related to Safe-D projects during the summer of 2019.

Safe-D Researcher, Reg Viray (VTTI) took part as a volunteer judge in two student technology competition events hosted by Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

Safe-D Researcher Ralph Buehler (VT) presented at the 2019 Thomas Jefferson Symposium to Advance Research (tjSTAR) on sustainable transport. tjSTAR was held at the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA on May 28-29, 2019.

The VA Dept of Transportation’s Office of Strategic Innovation(LINK has been removed from host site) hosted Bristol District’s “Dialog on Highway Automation Workshop” on April 16th at the Higher Education Center in Abingdon, VA (9am – 4pm).

Hosted by Virginia Tech’s Department of Science, Technology, and Society on April 4th at the Inn at Virginia Tech, the 2019 Choices & Challenges forum explored the ethical and social issues around self-driving automobiles in the New River Valley region by bringing together the public and internationally-recognized experts.
